been playing around with working on a game... again. but, since I am mostly interested in visuals and branching stories I though I try to make a #renpy style visual novel.

I did this mock up of some older art to see if the visual aesthetic would work or not and it seems to. kind of tom goes tot he mayor meets 90s shareware games.

also I downloaded renpy from he official site is anyone having problems with it being tagged by there anti virus and are there anyother free #visualnovel options?

I've developed a bridge between RenPy and NVDA, so that the self-voicing mode outputs text through NVDA instead of using SAPI voices on Windows. The script is open source and can be found at https://github.com/gogabs/renpy-nvda-bridge.

The script uses a Python library I've developed called Pyscrout, which can be found at https://github.com/gogabs/pyscrout

I taught a group of students how to create simple games in Ren'Py. I don't know what exactly it is that does it, but it is very teachable, somehow.

I would probably pin it on customizing templates, visual feedback and development in small steps being an obvious way to go. It has a low skill floor and a high ceiling via python, if needed.
