Posting a lot today because I have a lot of work to avoid.
#Infosec and #internet people: what's the deal with businesses doing "I'm so sad and I'm closing shop" ads on FB. I've seen half a dozen of them in the past few months. A new one popped up on my feed this week, paulrichardshop.com. The standard "heavy heart" and "after lots of years" etc. with a link to an online shop.
I don't know if I'm doing this right, but I checked WHOIS data and it looks (?) like the website was first registered about 2 months ago. Maybe I am not seeing full history or something. Still, it feels like A Thing for businesses to try to drive purchases by (possibly) creating a temporary business, claiming it's been around a long time, saying it's going out of business (with personal emotion bids in details), and then making some bank.
It's not completely new. Didn't we all have a furniture store or something in our hometown as kid that was constantly having "going out of business" sales yet never actually closed? If I'm onto something, then this pattern has a few more lies built in, but is a riff on the same old thing.
Any thoughts? This includes "you did not search WHOIS correctly" (which I might not have done).

I finally got to finish deflocking my darling Shady! She’s still in the makeover zone, with a cute cutie mark touch-up and a fabulous mane revamp on the to-do list, but she’s *almost* ready to shine!
We're in the homestretch! The fuzz is officially gone, and now it's just a matter of saying goodbye to that pesky adhesive! Shady is almost all set to sparkle in her new forever home! Get ready for the big reveal!
Another fun-filled day with Shady, and wow, can you see the transformation! Her left side is like a sparkling star, while her right side is catching up, creating a fabulous duo! Let’s keep the magic going!

For #MusicWomenWednesday here's a very small korean band called Shady (셰이디). They describe themselves as a hard rock band with a bit of theatricality.
They'll be releasing their first album, Gory Tale, on September 26th.

Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Field Service technology
uses AI to single out workers
and closely monitor their performance, a new report says.
The report, released by Austrian research institute Cracked Labs, raises questions about the integration of Microsoft’s #Copilot #AI into its platform for #worker #surveillance.
“The study shows that it is not only gig work firms or software from small, #shady #vendors that enable extensive #worker #monitoring and algorithmic management,”
Wolfie Christl, a public-interest technology researcher and the author of the report, told 404 Media.

The Dynamics 365 Field Service software is designed to help dispatchers manage a fleet of mobile workers,
which Microsoft often refers to as “resources.”
The system is usually used for services like machine maintenance, repair, cleaning, or home healthcare.
Because of its optimization for managers, however, the report found that the software can have negative impacts on human workers in the field.
The report says Microsoft uses AI to single out individual workers in its estimates of how long a particular task will take
