I tried the Juice Monster - Viking Berry recently. Let me tell you - I liked it.

First, the can's aesthetic is really cool. Like the look of it.

But, overall, it has a mixed red berry (think strawberry, raspberry, etc all mixed together) juice-like flavor, very subtle carbonation.

I liked it.

Would get again.

My favorite #soda #pop #SoftDrink is undoubtedly #Calpis #Calpico soda, from Japan. When I was a child, it was Coca-Cola, but from the first time I encountered Calpis soda as an adult, I was hooked.

Unfortunately for me, I cannot buy it anywhere in my town, and even if I could, it's outrageously expensive in the US. The best I can do is buy Calpis concentrate and mix that with seltzer.

They call it "Calpico" in the US, because of course "Calpis" sounds a lot like "cow piss" in English.

Do you like Red Bull? Are you frugal with your money? Do you shop at Aldi? Well, then check out Red Thunder. It's...mostly like Red Bull. And I mean mostly. It's almost tasting like Red Bull. Something is slightly off.

It's not bad, the attempt to duplicate the flavor, though, is not 100% accurate.

Still. I like Red Thunder.

Bringing my energy drink content over to Mastodon.

This week I tried a new Monster flavor - Ultra Blue Hawaiian.

The taste? Kind of like a tropical punch. Think Kool Aid Tropical punch but with a lot of caffeine.

Would get again.

One of the things I have been talking about on Pixelfed is how much I like energy drinks. I have a problem...

Do you like Red Bull? Are you frugal with your money? Do you shop at Aldi? Well, then check out Red Thunder. It's...mostly like Red Bull. And I mean mostly. It's almost tasting like Red Bull. Something is slightly off.

I was at Target recently and was dragging, so picked up the Accelerator Active Energy "Cherry Ice Pop" flavored energy drink.

It has 200 milligrams of natural caffeine, per the label and zero sugar.

The flavor? If you've had a cherry ice pop, it's that. Literally that flavor. Somehow they melted it down and bottled it up. It's wild how much it tastes just like that kind of an ice pop.

Have you tried this energy drink? If so, what are your thoughts?

Look at this retro inspired can for a new Monster Energy drink: Ultra Vice Guava.

Sorry, I'm a sucker for a gimmicky drink. Always.

How was it? It was okay. Pretty basic Monster / Guava flavor. Nothing to write home about. Probably wouldn't get again, tho.

Oh boy am I a sucker for gimmicky sodas. And I always find myself trying out the newest Mountain Dew products.

This week it's the new Game Fuel flavors.

I snagged a bottle of Citrus Cherry Game Fuel to try out and let me tell you...it's exactly as advertised. No, literally. It has that citrusy taste of a Mountain Dew plus some notes of artificial cherry. How I described it immediately to my wife was "Code Red, but Better."

Would try again, but wish it came in a Diet variety.

Looks like 7-Eleven is getting into the business of making energy drinks now.

As they were currently BOGO, I picked up two. One for yesterday, one for today. I drink an energy drink a day, so this seemed like a useful pickup. Each can has 200 mg of caffeine, the equivalent to about a 16 oz cup of coffee.

The two flavors I grabbed were Paradise Pulse and Cosmic Cherry. I'll talk about them individually.

Paradise Pulse tastes...uhm...I don't know. It tasted like an energy drink, like the cliché energy drink flavor that you get out of a Red Bull, but much more medicinal. I couldn't pinpoint like a very specific artificial flavor. Maybe it was going for a tropical punch, but it missed the mark.

Cosmic Cherry tasted like liquid Luden's cough drops. Literally. Like, I have no other means of describing it.

At some point, I may have to try the other two flavors, but I will not be likely to get either of these two again. Maybe Cosmic Cherry - Liquid Luden's isn't the worst thing in the world.

It's 2024 and it is almost fall. You know what that means?

New Mountain Dew Voo Dew!

I saw it sitting at a gas station and had to try it, cause I'm that person. The verdict? I hated it.

I tried to pinpoint the flavor, it was sicky sweet and kind of fruity like a Starburst. People online have tried guessing that it tastes like a Pink Starburst, which is my least favorite of them all, and - frankly, I can see it.

Have you had 2024's mystery Voo Dew? If so, sound off in the comments of what you think the flavor is!

As a person who appreciates gimmicky soda and Mountain Dew, when I heard that 7-Eleven had their own, new custom Mountain Dew flavor, I had to check it out.

Enter "Mountain Dew Infinite Swirl."

My initial impression is...it's okay. The flavor starts by hitting you with subtle pineapple followed by a berry / regular Mountain Dew aftertaste. However, for me, overall the flavor was kind of subdued.

I didn't mind it, but my kids - well, they really liked it. While I had a few sips, they guzzled down the rest of the bottle.

I guess you could say it was a hit at home, even if I only thought it was okay. Would get again for the kids, but unlikely to get again for myself. I'll stick with my standard dose of Diet Dew.

My initial thoughts trying out Rowdy Energy's "Strawberry Lemonade" - Meh, no thank.

My more detailed thoughts, plus story time - So, I was at the grocery store when I saw this sitting on the shelf on-sale for 60¢. I thought to myself, "Sure, I'll try it, why not. I like Strawberry lemonade flavoring." Put it in the fridge and tried it the next day as my early morning energy drink. The result? Meh.

The flavor was just...well, off. I didn't taste any strawberry lemonade, mostly a very subtle flavor with a green tea-esque aftertaste. It felt more like a lightly strawberry flavored bubbly green tea with such minimal flavor to feel borderline like a seltzer. But the aftertaste was strong, for me at least.

Long story short, yea, I didn't like it. I finished it because I wanted the caffeine (~130 mg) and I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.

Survey says - won't drink again.
