The weather cooperated today so I got the garden planted. These are some highlights.

I did two really dumb things last year: I waited until the tomatoes really needed a cage, by which point it was much too late. And I didn't mark which tomatoes were where.

This year, cages are in place long before need, with tape on the cage marking the color of tomato planted there.

This statement says intelligence is about knowing facts, and wisdom is about applying knowledge.

Ich hoffe nicht. Der Test mit den kältetoleranten Tomaten geht in die heiße oder besser gesagt kalte Phase, d. h. die Tomatenpflanzen sind ins Freiland umgezogen.

Während die einen ins Gewächshaus dürfen, müssen die Kältetoleranten frühmorgens selbiges verlassen, um sich abzuhärten, denn in wenigen Tagen werden sie ins Freiland entlassen.
Die Tomatenpflanze 'Skorospelka' beginnt bereits mit der Blüte.

Einmal muss man die gute, mollige und schützende Kinderstube verlassen.
Heute zieht die erste Charge Freilandtomaten zur Akklimatisierung ins Gewächshaus.

Jetzt weiß ich, was eine kältetolerante Tomatensorte auszeichnet – ein wolliger Pelz.

Die Sorte ‚Sanka‘ steht zur Akklimatisierung im Gewächshaus und beginnt zu blühen. Sollte sie den April überleben gibt es Ende Mai/Anfang Juni vielleicht die erste Freilandtomate.

Hey #Gardening people - we're thinking about ordering some #heirloom tomato plants from the #Chicago #Tomato Man. We are complete novices at this and need some guidance.

- We need to grow in an apartment (dwarf or tabletop) or on our balcony in a south-facing building with lots of sunlight.
- We do a lot of #Indian cooking.
- We don't have a lot of experience with tomatoes.
