Hey y’all! How’s everyone doing? Hope all is well!

Quick question for folks using **Google Drive** on iPhone and Mac:
If someone shares a folder with you, how do you get it to appear in the main section of Google Drive (like in "My Drive") and not just under "Shared with me"?

For example, on my Mac, I have Google Drive set up to show in Finder, but it only shows the *My Drive* folder—none of the shared ones—unless I use the web version. On the iPhone app, I only see shared folders in the *Shared* tab, unless I create a shortcut to that folder.

What do y’all think? Any tips or tricks?

For any fellow #Blind #Duolingo users who haven't yet left due to their awful #Accessibility, if you've been running into the #VoiceOver sluggishness when doing lessons, try tapping the volume buttons when it happens. Something about this interaction stops the slow interface issue for a few seconds and brings interaction speed back to normal, then just press the volume buttons again when it inevitably goes back to being slow. Such awful UX/UI design...

Hey #Blind friends on Mastodon I have a question. when in the Facebook Messenger app for #iOS, using #VoiceOver how does one successfully send an audio message? I know how to do it in WhatsApp but can't seem to manage it in the Messenger app. I tried holding the record button, I tried double tapping and letting go I tried double tapping and sliding like one can in WhatsApp and nothing is working. I'm sure it's me.

I know about the obvious like VOCR, Hammerspoon, launchers like raycast/alfred, specialized apps like Drafts/Logic/Vmware Fusion/BBEdit/VS Code, even more specialized stuff like RCMD, Vollama and Shortcat, maybe some Rogue Amoeba stuff. I will also mention VoiceOver features like hotspots, item chooser, fastSearch and activities. Is there anything major I am missing? @FreakyFwoof @pitermach

Navigating iOS WhatsApp message threads is becoming very difficult with VoiceOver. Management of focus position, especially after performing an action is atrocious, it jumps largely back up the thread losing your position, this happens a lot especially on a busy thread. The app for the TP-Link Deco mesh system is nice and #screenreader #accessible if you're in the market for a router. More than can be said for Linksys Velop. Amplifi was okay, but the TP-Link app is actually better, at least on #IOS with #voiceover. I haven't had the system for long enough to give a review, other than that setup was quick and all the apps joined without issue. Also the default DHCP settings are weird. Who wants to start at 192.168.68.1? Changing it isn't obvious. First you have to change the lan address. Then it will change the gateway for you as part of that. Only then can you change the DHCP allocation. And even then it wants to start allocating at 192.168.0.1. That's too weird for me when the router lives at 192.168.1.1. And even after fiddling, it's still randomly assigning devices in 192.168.2. and 192.168.3.. But at least it let me reserve the devices that I need to be static. I probably have to go somewhere and do something incomprehensible with netmasks, but whatever. It's fine. #a11y

I tell new designers that don’t have #accessibility experince to think of #VoiceOver / #TalkBack as a separate interface to an app. Don't rely on devs to take on simply adding labels and such. They'll do their best, but that's not an intentionally designed experience. Every customer deserves the best interface for their needs.

Good news for fellow fans of @overcastfm who use #VoiceOver. In the last few days I’ve noticed that those weird unlabelled dimmed buttons when swiping through a list of episodes seem to be gone, plus VoiceOver focus is landing and staying on the Play button in the menu when I double tap on an episode. Im still hoping for the actions rotor menu to be returned to its former glory though. This remains my favourite podcast app.

My apologies if this is common knowledge among screen reader users, but I’ve just learned something new. Often, when scrolling social media, my Voiceover voice would change to a non-English speaking voice and read a post in another accent. It was so pronounced that I could not understand the post even though swiping through one word at a time did allow me to read the words which were clearly in English. But I’ve had French, German, Russian, Arabic & Oriental accents cropping up for no obvious reason.
I thought this might be something to do with Language Detection but it’s not. The way to fix it is quite bizarre.
I use Fiona as my Primary voice. But someone suggested I revert to some other voice as the primary one, then add Fiona as a Rotor Voice. So I put good old Daniel back as my primary voice, then added Fiona to the Rotor. After selecting Fiona from the rotor, I went back and checked one of the posts I had been unable to read and this time it worked perfectly.
Quite why a Rotor voice reads a post in English but the Primary voice doesn’t is beyond me, but if anyone else is having this problem, this is how to fix it.
