Fascinating reading about the early and present water wars in California. Part of this history was the basis of the movie Chinatown.

If you ever need a good example of how capitalism is bad, this is a good place to start... William Mulholland (and many others he worked with) was an odious man - it's a shame anything is named after him in LA...

"Feb 20, 2025
Gaza is facing a water crisis after Israeli forces destroyed most of its infrastructure, leaving facilities from wells to waste-water plants in ruins.
Amid an overwhelming water shortage, residents of Gaza City's neighbourhood al-Shujayea are digging a well among the ruins - hoping to secure a vital water source."

💧‘Thirsty’ ChatGPT uses four times more water than previously thought - The Times

“One of the horror stories of our planet is the sheer utter wastefulness of our power generation processes. We are 60 per cent wasteful in power generation. Every watt of energy we get has consumed three watts of resources to get it out. That’s where a vast amount of water consumption comes from in the first place. Huge amounts of water are lost in that process.”
