A #WristCheck of an amazing value watch. It cost me just $6🇺🇸!!! 🤯

The #Skmei model 1096. It is labelled 'Solar.Lithium', which basically translates as 'solar assist'. It will preferentially use solar power and that in turn effectively extends the life of the battery. Indeed at a push it can actually run in a limited mode (not all features work) with the battery entirely removed (there is a capacitor, so it will even work for a bit without light).

@kev Swatch "Broadcast" model GB720 from 1990. Bought this in Spain. Recently replaced the battery only to notice grains of sand from Playa Saler (Valencia) in the compartment. I am remembering listening to a lot of My Bloody Valentine and my students at Centro de Estudios Norteamericanos. 🦇

35-year old watch that is still ticking. Quartz accuracy + sentimental value = priceless timepiece.

@kev Casio DW-5600UE Breaking out the Sunday Best for today's watch with the only G-Shock from my humble collection. The "gravitational shock" protection is wasted on me seeing as I'm unlikely to be busting rocks in the hot sun with a jackhammer or saving passengers from Dennis Hopper on an LA bus. Blew a gift card on it & not sorry.

The backlight on G-Shocks proves that Casio can make good LED lighting that rivals the famed Electroluminescence.

@kev Casio AE-1200 (aka the "Casio Royale". I made the mistake of starting my Saturday wearing the Pixel Watch 2. Should've gone with my 1st instinct which was this model. It's an attention-getter. Yes, there's entirely too much going on here. But the time is still easy to read at a glance. From its nickname to the world time zones, this watch is a conversation piece.

And it's a full suite of features without the need to mod the PCB.
