#Submerged

Here we go! Apple‘s first scripted Apple Immersive short film debut, “Submerged”. 8K 180° 3D in Dolby Atmos! Only in the Apple Vision Pro. This is such a game-changing cinematic event! In the years of VR experiences I’ve had, no film has pulled me into their world like this one does. It felt like being a voyeur in the world of the movie, rather than just a spectator looking disconnectedly at a flat painting. This changes everything!

My review of #Submerged for #AppleVisionPro: very cool, effective, and cleverly crafted. I look forward to seeing more filmmakers explore fiction in this way.

BUT…

I don’t think this first attempt makes best use of the medium:

- The action is all centered. I’d hoped for more reason to turn my head. Sights/sounds could guide the viewer.

- I don’t care for the iPhone-like “spatial video” interludes where people are too large yet depth is squashed.
