it just struck me: #wasd should die in pain, the left-hand direction keys for #gaming should have been #esdf from the very beginning! sometimes engineers (as in: programmers) can be the stupidest people while being the most clever at the same time :-/

@BonfireAtNight you might consider custom #mechanicalkeyboards with #ZMK or #QMK now :)

I've been using CAPsLock for layout switch for ages on my #WASD keyboards; now as I moved to custom mechanical keyboards; #ZSAPlank -> #BlankSlate -> #Corne ; mapped bottom left key(third layer key on first two and shift on corne) to do it on tap as well.
Though as now moving to #homerow, thinking I can utilize that key for something else :)

P.S. check CAPs_Word on ZMK or QMK :)

Sky of Tides #wasd. Narrative game with RPG aspects - felt more like a dystopian YA visual novel with some item hunting (locations have an explicit item count). Conversation would boost stats depending on choices. Stats would unlock items. Voice acting and writing was fine. Didn't grab me, though.

Set Sail #wasd. Pirate themed couch co-op. Starts off with a mad dash out of jail involving throwing everyone physically, then jumping into cannons and swordspamming. Later, you're cleaning dirty ships. A lot of different minigames - devs say better with 4 players but can even played solo.

Pepper Grinder #wasd. Like a 16-bit era platformer but with interesting drilling mechanic. A lot of this is about momentum and drilling through material to give you a boost to reach greater heights. Got tricky but practice will make perfect. I warmed to this. Collect crystals for twinkle noises.

Bootleg Steamer #wasd. Trade legal or illegal goods but keep clear of the coastguard in this 20s prohibition era game. Upgrade ship, hire crew, make a deal with them mafia. Reminded me of the ten minutes I played of Sunless Sea. Some UI teething issues but then happily spent 20 minutes with it.

Taketh Giveth #wasd. UKIE Student Game Jam winner. Clever game - symbol at bottom tells you direction of next thrust and you have about a second to reorient vessel. Pick up fuel to stay alive, give it away for points. Everything goes well for awhile and then your head checks out and it's a disaster.

CorpoNation: The Sorting Process #wasd. Feels Papers Please-esque but the "core" gameplay loop is simple, repetitive and short. All the ancillary stuff about life under the cosh of an all powerful company is the meat. However story a bit obvious in some ways and found it difficult to sustain my attention.

Sol Cesto #wasd. Oh this was brilliant. Roguelike where you choose a row in a dungeon and one of four rooms is picked at random. If you have lower strength/magic on a combat, you lose health. You have to survive several moves to advance to the next stage.

Easy to pick up, visually compelling.

Kreigsfront Tactics #wasd. Turn based tactics game a la Into the Breach. Mechas facing off in 70s "southeast Asia". I was losing the demo battle. Mechas don't have universal hp they have hp on body parts, so a lot more to think about. Is it complexity for complexity's sake? Don't know I was losing
