While I've been thinking about learning new engines like @unrealengine or @godotengine for years, I never felt as motivated as I am today. I don't care if Unity rolls back all changes, makes the engine completely free to use, and cures cancer. The trust is lost. I will wrap up my last game (which is pretty much done anyway), and I won't touch it unless it's for work or I absolutely have to.

@unrealengine @godotengine Oh, and since we are talking about dramatic changes... How well does Unreal (@unrealengine) run on ? Would it be hard to learn both Linux and the engine at the same time?

@godotengine @unrealengine @antonsem Linux is super easy to use, I actually like it much more than windows, it just sucks for gaming right now. But unreal runs surprisingly well for me, there’s no visual studio, so you would need/want rider if you want C++ (which I already use anyway)

@antonsem @godotengine @unrealengine but yeah, I never thought unreal would work fine, de used to give it a try and don’t miss windows at all. There’s no epic store integration, so you have to get your assets from the store and move to the project manually, a few extra steps but aside from that, it just works, and in my case, surprisingly better too. I have some weird ui glitches on windows since ue4 and they don’t happen on Linux.

@unrealengine @antonsem @godotengine the only thing I actually miss is abriga, but I can run blender (native to Linux) and substance painter (steam version via proton). The only things I miss is zbrush and photoshop/affinity, haven’t tried to run them, if it takes too much effort I don’t even try.

@rom @unrealengine @godotengine Alright, it doesn't sound too bad :D perhaps I will give it a try :) Thank you!
