Because the question now needs to be posed looking westwards across the Atlantic.
If your phone can be taken on arrival & searched for messages critical of the government & then you can be denied entry (or perhaps worse in the future), why would you even think of going in the first place?

Thirding. It seems to be a common foreign misconception that the US's general public is in a position to violently overthrow the Federal government at a moment's notice. We're not, for several reasons.

Yeah, the military strikes me as a major wild card in all this. I don't feel like I can predict what they'll do either way (unlike police, whom I can pretty confidently say will fall on the fascist side).
Will the military back Trump out of fear and/or misplaced loyalty? Will they overthrow him in a military coup? Will they fragment between those two goals and descend into infighting, and if so what will the balance of power between the sides be?

Heck, there's one person I'm acquainted with through an MMO who's military, and I feel like I can't talk to him anymore. I don't actually know his politics, but I figure it's best to not talk with him either way. After all, either he's on the wrong side and therefore I shouldn't tolerate him anyway, or he's on the right side and actually being on speaking terms with anyone with a conscience would be an infosec concern.
