Asking $650 for GDC Vault after having collected ungodly amounts of money from people who attended in person is embarrassing.

That's not how you support an industry and make it stronger. Those session videos should just be posted to YouTube for all to view and learn.

@johnbart I agree 100% with that sentiment; in fact, I think that Josh Sawyer really sums it up well at the end of one of his talk he streamed directly on twitch a while ago youtu.be/1OrUhqgueAE?t=3114

Considering that InformaTech, the division of Informa (owners of GDC), posted a profit of US$90m in 2023, I reckon that is something doable.
But that would lead to less profits for shareholders, so, we know that's unlikely to happen...

Text reads as follow: GDC's policies are bad (crying face of Fallout's VaultBoy) - this is easy to stream - it's going to be easy upload somewhere else - the GDC Vault gouges people outrageously - Speakers are not compensated for their time outside of a GDC Pass and 1 year vault acces (no travel or lodging expenses) - There are lots of talks tat compensate speakers, cover travel and lodging, and stream and/or rehost their talks. - GDC shoudl change their policies and until they do, speakers should give their time to people who compensate their labor instead.
