Unreasonably pumped about getting 1.2kg of chicken for £2.50 today thanks to a combo of special offer voucher and close best before date (it’s going in the freezer in portions anyway so it’s fine)
I’m very lucky to be pretty financially stable these days , but once a thrift master, always a thrift master; you can’t just turn it off
@sinbad that is a lot of chicken!
I'd still struggle to not pop it all in one curry though
@dev_ric we buy larger packs and freeze it in portions, we’ve found it cheaper & less waste that way. But this is my record on the cheapo scale, especially given how much food has gone up in price lately
@sinbad yeah, chicken especially. I try to buy organic where possible, but a pack of 2 organic chicken breasts is about £9 now and I'm sure you used to be able to get the whole bird for that much a few years ago!
Difficult to put a price on welfare - really it should be that just all chickens are given a good life - but we've broken through sane price points now.
