NYC Half Marathon this weekend. My first time running it (and the first time a race goes over the Brooklyn Bridge!), and really, my first Half in almost 4 years. Super excited!
Good news! I finally managed to see race photographers ahead of time and close my mouth so my running photos are not terrible!
Bad news! Now I just have a frown.
I should probably embrace the Conner Mantz in me. The dude looked like complete garbage*, while still breaking his own PR and (unofficially) besting the American Half Marathon record.

* In jest, of course. He's strong, that's just how he runs
More seriously, though, my first NYC Half was a great race. Got a nice PR (1h 34m).
The last 5k segment (15k-20k) was almost the same time as a previous 5k *race* from 2 years ago (~21:5x). Which is nuts to think about.
Felt strong from start to finish. Strong negative splits (from about 4:50/km to 4:00/km), somewhat forced by the crowded start. The end was pain, and all uphill too, but managed a good kick.
Very grateful overall!
Oh, and some photos are even OK.
@zeh thanks for the link I really enjoyed the second half of the half. Good luck with the race or have you already finished? Looks like NYC is very foggy right now.
@dickclaus finished yesterday! Thanks!
And yeah, it was very foggy, very humid.
@zeh Congrats!!
@Andre_LA Valeu!!
@zeh congrats and great run!
@RowinSpeez thanks!!
@zeh parabéns, I’m currently working from Lisbon only cheered on friends and collegues running meia maratona de Lisboa as part of SuperHalfs. Maybe will be running half here in October.
@dickclaus yes! I heard it's a great one!
