#Reading is also divided in half by the #RiverThames - there are only 3 points to cross it - at #Caversham Bridge, Reading Bridge and just outside in #Sonning - even this afternoon that bridge must have been #flooded , as #Wokingham #Council and #TVP (Thames Valley Police) had closed off the road (adding to the traffic on the remaining two bridge crossings). The Council wants to build a third bridge but surrounding Councils are against it

Fun fact: See the wall that runs along the right side of the #river? That wasn't there when I was little. The houses you see used to get #flooded in the winter. My parent's house is out of view in the photo. The water used to come all the way up to our doorstep but never came in. I remember my dad and brother helping neighbours by brushing the #flood water out of the houses and removing damaged items. It was a very sad, horrible thing to witness. That river wall is worth every single penny. ❤️
