Starting a new project, which I plan to make open source, and hope to eventually build a community of contributors. However, I'm hesitant to put it on GitHub. I have my own Forgejo server, but I don't know how likely people are to contribute if they can't just use their existing GitHub account...
#forgejo #github #opensource
I've encapsulated my strategy for managing #GitHub PRs (rebase and merge with merge-commit) into a "git merge-pr" command: https://github.com/goerz/git-merge-pr
I'm currently migrating my #OpenSource projects from #GitHub to #Codeberg and I have to say I'm impressed.
+ Codeberg web interface is much (!) faster and more responsive compared to GitHub
+ Git clone and push feel about twice as fast as GitHub (not that it matters much)
+ Much cleaner interface than GitHub, less bloat and less featuritis
+ Codeberg activity overview is very helpful and well organized
+ Codeberg migration tool works well
Note: the OSS git software that Codeberg runs is called Forgejo.

I still couldn't launch #KDE's #Kdenlive without the app crashing right after the loading menu disappears, for months now. Specifically the #Flatpak, not sure about the native Arch package. This is pretty annoying cos I loved Kdenlive and used it quite a bit.
Someone reported the issue, and I added to it, but it was closed soon after for not having enough information. I love KDE but their bug reporting tool is pretty freaking annoying, I'm a lot more responsive and helpful if it's on #GitHub or at the very least, #GitLab - I understand tho that a project/team as big as theirs could not effectively rely on these (for bug reports).
The Flatpak works fine on my wife's PC, just not mine somehow despite it being fine all this while. Don't really know the underlying cause of it to identify any workarounds or fixes. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499483

#GitHub #Copilot Agent mode is now available in the stable release of #VSCode. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it, especially for creating things from scratch. It's not perfect, but can be a great learning resource and time saver.
It's off by default. Search "chat agent" in settings to enable it.
