Gran Canaria, Maspalomas Dunes in the early spring. I miss the days in which you could see the vastness of the golden sand dunes over the blue skies and the ocean in the horizon without being damaged by arsehole hooligans who just can't understand the beauty, the majestic and the sublime without trampling over them for that stupid selfie to show off to their friends the pathetic lives they live, day in, day out. I don't think I'll ever see the sand dunes as in this snap shot. It hurts. A lot.

Gran Canaria, Playa del Inglés beach (Maspalomas Dunes in the horizon, too!) on a winter day with blue skies all around, the mild ocean waves hitting the golden sand of the beach, while a number of people stroll through. #SilentSunday The Maspalomas Dune system is 400 hectares, protected by the Canarian government as a Nature Reserve of special value since 1987. They were formed by sand from the now subdued marine shelf when it was laid dry during the last ice age.

Mit der Ankunft von 2 weiteren Cayucos, die am Abend von Salvamento Marítimo nach #ElHierro bzw. #GranCanaria geleitet wurden, haben jetzt am gestrigen Samstag insges. 452 Menschen die #Canarias wohlbehalten erreicht.

Das erste Boot mit 86 Menschen an Bord war 9km südl. von La Restinga lokalisiert worden und erreichte den Hafen um 18:20. Das zweite Boot erreichte mit 56 Personen um 21:30 in Begleitung der Salvamar Macondo Gran Canaria.

Mehr als 300 Menschen haben in den letzten 24 Std. in 5 Cayucos die #Canarias erreicht.

Am Freitagabend erreichten 38 Pers. aus eigener Kraft den Playa Santiago in Alajeró auf #LaGomera. Heute früh rettete die Salvamar Macondo von 52 Pers. aus 1 Cayuco 5½km südl. von #GranCanaria und brachte sie im Hafen von Arguineguín an Land.

I'm currently in #GranCanaria, and this is Cenobio de Valerón.

It was an aboriginal grain collection store, in a settlement located up on a high escarpment at Montaña del Gallego. It was said to be built by the ancient Canarians over 800 years ago, making full use of the geological conditions at the volcanic cone. With the help of flint stones, they opened up over 350 cavities laid out on several levels, which were used for the storage of foodstuffs.

The image shows a rocky cave with multiple circular holes and cavities on the surface of the stone. The cave wall appears to have weathered and eroded over time, creating these holes. The scene is illuminated by bright sunlight, and the sky above is clear and blue. The ground in front of the cave is rocky and sloped.

Gran Canaria, hiking up in the mountains, around the area of Pico de las Nieves. One of my favourite winter hikes. Blue skies all around, an exuberant landscape of wild daisies scattered all over the ground, being watched by some gentle giants (pine trees), over a serene landscape with a traffic sign, right in the middle, highlighting we need to slow down (30 kmph). Intoxicating view I just can't get enough of!

Gran Canaria, Maspalomas sand dunes on a winter day. One of my favourite views of a stroll along the golden sand dunes in a clear blue sky winter day watching over the capricious shapes and forms of the dunes with the ocean lingering in the horizon inviting to get closer to tip one's toes in the cool waters.

In der vergangenen Nacht rettete die Guardamar Urania von Salvamento Marítimo etwa 14 Meilen südlich von Arguineguín auf ( #GranCanaria ) 57 Menschen von einem Cayuco und brachte sie in den Hafen.
