The War On Some Fun Drugs is an absolute farce.
(3/3) The Mann is a nice venue. Semi-enclosed, every seat is good, and doesn’t feel anonymous. It was just the right size for this.
(2/3) Lucius played too (they're shown here with The National). I worry about bands like this in the age of streaming and bought their record, since they’d get less than pennies from me otherwise. That system is unsustainable.
(1/3) The War on Drugs at The Mann in Philadelphia on Sept 17. Nobody's following me for music criticism, but I'll call them the best American rock band of the last decade: now at the peak of their powers and 30 years out of step, playing like members of rock canon without ever sounding like they don't belong. Live, they hit with the same feel as Dire Straits. Them opening for The National was exactly backwards.
