They were also noticed on the #Black_Sea coast of #Georgia (#Gonio, #Batumi, #Kobuleti, #Ureki, #Poti, #Anaklia) and unrecognized #Abkhazia (#Gagra, #Bichvinta, #Sukhumi) (photo 2).

Kerch Strait Oil Spill

Early in the morning of 15 December 2024, two Russian-flagged #Volgoneft river-sea class #oil #tankers, Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, were caught in a storm just south of the #KerchStrait. #Russian Telegram channels report that a third #Volgoneft vessel carrying 4,000 tons of #mazut has reported leaking in one of the tanks.

So far, #mazut hasn't leaked into the sea. It's unclear whether another environmental disaster can be avoided.
