Wood ears really look like ears!
They are soft and velvety to the touch and have a rubbery/ gelatinous consistency. We like them best chopped and added to soup!

My favorite family Christmas tradition, a day in the woods behind mom's house, foraging for fungi. This year the fungi was abundant. Lots of yellow and winter chanterelles, porcupines, candy caps, black trumpets, and lobster mushies. The oysters were a little past their prime. Gonna try a round of wool dying with the lobsters.
