The trap is running again, but using #Alma 9.5, and not #Fedora #Linux. The old box gets some #hardware #upgrades to memory and will also run Alma.

I was a loooong time user of #CentOS for its LTS level stability for mission critical use, and it's time to get back to that same trust level for crucial DNS tasks, plus the added dev stuff I still do on occasion.

This gives me 2 swappable mini servers running identical software/services. The new twist will be adding external log storage.

I’m working on two similar Dell Optiplex machines, six generations apart.

The Dell Optiplex 3010 and the 3070.

Very similar in design and layout. The 3070 has nvne on board and PC4 memory, so certainly some changes.

Speaking of that nvme, the upgrades I did on the 3070 were:

  • a migration from a slow 500GB WD Blue hard drive to an nvme 1TB SSD
  • Doubled the memory from 8GB to 16GB
  • Upgraded the OS from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro.

I love cascading #PC #upgrades main #laptop gets upgraded from 2x16 to 2x32, the 2x16 move over to secondary laptop with 2x8, which will then be moved to one of my 1x8 micro PCs, whose singular stick will be moving over to its twin and combine into 2x8 as well !

On top of doubling the #memory capacity for all devices, I'll enjoy dual channel everywhere and double rank #RAM in main laptop !
