In my notes from last year's look at the Gravis Blackhawk Digital, a dot point is that @hyratel had trouble porting the Linux GrIP code to an #Arduino 32U4 because it was right on the edge of how fast it needed to be to reliably read the signals: gist.github.com/Hyratel/4e6899

Because of that, I ordered a #RaspberryPi Pico 2 (5V tolerant GPIO), then immediately forgot about it for close to a year.

Now that I have a logic analyser, I wondered: Just how much faster might a Pico 2 be than a 32U4? 🧵

I had an interesting weekend tinkering with a Raspberry Pi 4 model B a group of students of mine used for a project. I could manage to communicate with an ADC and build a very simple logger. I need it for an experience I need to monitor at work. Python is very expressive and runs quite well on this little cute machine. #raspberrypi

It's day 6 #AmigApril

Some weeks ago I got a little upgrade for this A1200. I had an RasPi3 laying around, so I bought a PiStorm extension board for the Miggy. And this thing is wild.

It is like every other turbo card for the A1200. It is placed in the trapdoor and replaces the CPU, extends the memory and does a lot more stuff. But instead of a faster 680x0 CPU or a FPGA (both very expensive) there is a Rasberry Pi, that emulates a super fast 680x0 CPU in software.

Think about it. There is original hardware, but the CPU is software-emulated by another computer. And that emulation is faster than any original CPU ever has been. That's completely wild.

@andy_warb I'd suggest this has already happened(ish).

Unifi G4/G5 cameras have onboard video processing, so the #HomeAssistant integration gets events, not just raw video. 10 years ago I was processing analogue video on a server - now in-camera.

The Voice Preview Edition has onboard wake-word detection hardware, whereas the #MycroftMarkI did this in software on a #raspberrypi

Today for (fast) local STT/TTS, you need a TPU/GPU today, but you can see the path ahead (like Coral TPUs in a NAS).

One of my #raspberrypi 4 accidentally got a few drops of rain while it was running and stopped working almost right away. I unplugged the power supply and cleaned it gently with a dry towel. After two days I plugged it back in and initially the LEDs were on. But it did not work anymore. And now, after a few hours on the power supply, the LEDs have died as well. Time to recycle?

Maybe 20 minutes with some cardboard for a mock-up to get a feel for proportions, another 20 minutes with #Tinkercad, snacks, and over to the printer for a 25% print. At 3mm thickness I forgot that the 25% was going to be less than a millimeter thick, but no issues getting it off the base as long as I let it cool down all the way.

No "floppy drive" slot. Going for the feel more than accuracy. Also thinking of a low and wide version that looks more like the Lisa.

I should have printed something for the temporary computer screen.

I'm thinking of finishing the design with no mounting hardware. I built the North Pi case and thought there were some pieces that could have skipped the hardware, and I should put my money where my mouth is, even though I'm clearly no designer.

Ich habe auf meinem Blog eine kleine Anleitung für die Installation von Docker und Portainer unter Debian und/oder Raspberry Pi geschrieben. Docker diente mir als Grundlage für die Google-Photo-Alternative Immich.

Saturday projects:

We now have a 2.55 watt output Full Duplex UHF Pi-Star (DMR) Hotspot driven by a "Broadband 1-930 MHz 2w eBay Amp"

Having to run a -10dB attenuator (since the mmdvm outputs 10mw) to not blow up the amp since it only needs 1mw to run it

Hopefully driving the amp with 13.8v won't hurt it too much because it's only meant to be driven with 12v 👀 ...(Just a little spicy given it's output power heh :blobcat_thisisfine: )

Going to have to take a walk later on and see what it's range is like now :blobcatcheer2:
