'cuz what kinda game would we be without an obvious money sink?!

Back to #interactiveFiction #game #coding, in #Inform, an almost magical natural language / declarative / object oriented #programming language for traditional parser interactive fiction games. I'm in early stages of my next game, but getting stuck in. Luckily for flighty me I have 7 main sections of game that I can work on independently. So can flit about as much as want to, depending on which bit(s) I feel inspired to work on at a time. #GameDev #IndieGame #IndieGames #TextGame #TextAdventure
More #interactiveFiction game coding, working on my new game in #Inform7. Currently building the main structure, working forward through the early stages of game. Now making a start on Chapter 2 - I suspect there will be 7 chapters by the end. And just named a property a house name that I am doubtful may ever have been used in real life. But is totally appropriate in this specific case. #GameDev #IndieGame #IndieGames #Game #TextGame #TextAdventure #Inform
Found out when the IFComp 2024 results will be announced. In two weeks time, on a live stream on Twitch. I will be tuning in. I don't expect to rank highly, but will be happy if I improve on my showing last time I entered! Just delighted to have been able to finish another game to take part this year. And looking forward to seeing how everyone fares. https://ifcomp.org/about/schedule #IFComp #IFComp2024 #interactiveFiction #IndieGame #TextGame #GameDev #Twitch #Game #textAdventure
IFComp has opened for another year, with 67 different interactive fiction games entered. Ranging from traditional parser text adventure games through to choice based pieces and RPGs. A huge range of genres, themes and styles. Judging is open to all comers, and runs until October 15th. https://ifcomp.org #IFComp #IFComp2024 #InteractiveFiction #TextAdventure #IndieGames #IndieGame #TextGame #CreativeWriting #Games
Shall we play a game?
"Bob's" Conscious Cave: The world's first Subgenius-themed anarchic federated human-ran co-op text choose your own adventure game
You wake up in a cave.
What do you do?
You choose your own adventure.
Just reply to this post or last one in thread to start!
NOTE FROM PLATO'S CLOSET
○Any players are free to join in at any time to continue from the last play or earlier in the adventure
@MxVerda I get that, agree and that wasn't the intention. My friend stole the basis from a youtube & it was specifically talking about the opioid epidemic & Purdue pharma's role.
I'll see how I can change it to eliminate this unnecessary divergence.
Would you like to play a human operated asynchronous cooperative text adventure game only available on the #Fediverse?
You can reply to the OP or the most recent move.
I'm plannon incorporating "choose your own adventure" gameplay as well.
#FlashbackFriday 18 Cadence (2013) tells the story of a house through a century of history, inviting you to make your own collage story about the people who lived there. Still very proud of the writing in this one. (The backend to save or browse stories no longer works, unfortunately.)

We made a little #justforfun #quiz for people to take and find out which of the major/class skills in #Mystavaria will match up best with your preferences!
https://take.quiz-maker.com/Q3GGD1J53
For those new to Mystavaria, we're an upcoming text-based #MUD, currently in development (yup! those still exist!). Our world is based on the collision of dreams and reality. We have 5 classes and over 20 skills to choose from, including unique magic like "Dreamweaving" and "Sky Prophecy," along with the tried and true mage's "Arcane" magic and "Blademastery" for the warriors out there!
So I've been thinking about small, text-based, story-driven game inside browser's console. Not even a game, but rather little interactive story.
Any thoughts? Or even some examples?
I've seen really cool one here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/53/mission-programmable

Just finished an interview with Opie, and I'm excited to share it with the #MUD and #textgame community!

Lots of great advice for folks thinking about creating their own games or working toward a career in the industry. #gamedev #indiegamedev
Cover art for my #GamesForBlindGamers jam. It's there to attract sighted players. How does it feel to you?
(Yes, it was kinda rushed.)
#GamesForBlindGamers text game update: you can now see monsters, and navigate from room to room. You can find the "stairs" down to the next level (not depicted). All that's missing is the core battles.
It has been a while, but here I am, actually finishing this complex unpleasant bit of work: basic flora generation algorithm. There are plants, just too few species.
No screenshots because this is a text RPG, but I have came up with an interesting idea to facilitate the illustration of it all. Aside from generated .png, I will make a proper TUI world explorer (aka legends browser for DF).

The 11th game of #WebGamesAdvent is RATS - #RoguesAmongTheStars. It has a fun concept - play a thief that teleports between #fantasy spaceships - but the implementation didn't get far beyond just a clone of #RuneStar due to the time limitation of #7DRL.
