I am really looking forward to a time when scientific data analysis is less of a constant fuckaround and fight with technical bullshit. I'd *really* like
- #netCDF natively supporting complex numbers
- #Python #xarray and #pandas to natively support physical units (#pint is great on its own but the integrations leave a LOT to be desired)
- #Jupyter notebooks to suck less (crashes, glitches, widget plots not saved statically, an effing BUILTIN formatter, etc.)
- proper data pipeline systems

I use the Python library #Pint to integrate units into my #engineering calculations. In general, it works well with #NumPy, but I discovered yesterday that units are lost when using the "piecewise" function on an array with units.
Possibly the problem would be solved if I upgraded to the latest versions of Pint and NumPy; both have seen a lot of development in recent years. But I won't depend upon NumPy > v.2.0 until it's been released in Debian Stable.
The #UnPaAc package is now available on #PyPI. One advantage compared to #pint and #uncertainties (including their #pandas integrations) is, that it allows to store and restore DataFrames with Series containing #units and uncertainties to/from csv files. I created accessors which simplify working with #uncertainties and #units in #pandas objects. Since the weekend was to short, the package is not ready for a #pypi deposition yet, but available via the #codeberg repo:

These Yorkshiremen have met up in the #pub for a #pint of #beer every Thursday for 56 years (longer than I have been alive!). They are drinking less alcohol than in their youth (maybe because of age and some have to drive, as they are alternatiing between pubs in #Sheffield and #Rotherham ) but still doing it after all these decades #Yorkshire #England

En attendant, le tri de toutes mes photos et le traitement des quelques élues, un aperçu en 19 photos du passage, hier soir, d'une #murmuration d'étourneaux sansonnet au-dessus du palud sur la côte de la baie d'Audierne. Ce n'est qu'une petite partie des oiseaux qui se regroupent ici le soir au dortoir dans la roselière. FR : je ne peux plus accéder à la partie basse de la cascade de Goarem ar Garrec. Là, c'était en décembre 2020, la dernière fois où j'y suis descendu. Ce matin-là, l'eau débordait de l'écluse du canal en crue, à Châteaulin.
