Sunday- day of the #AutumnEquinox was a bit rainy off and on, so I didn't do my main seasonal/remembrance altar (that was yesterday instead, posts yet to come!). Instead, I went for a bit of a #SlowWalk and made an impromptu altar with some odds and ends I picked up along the way-added to a bench that had bits of wood I kept aside from last winter's woodcutting. More pics on the blog

Two elongated oval willow leaves are laid across the stones, still medium green, though one is overturned showing the whitish leaf back. One of hte sontes is a light warm grey quartz, not quite smooth with some fine crystal visible, and slight ridges from past breaks partly smoothed over time. The other is a nearly flat somewhat oval shaped grey stone with lighter (surface deposits?) and darker bits showing. tones and leaves are shiny wet.

The leaves overlap a rough nearly black stone which is an irregular rectangle shape, and not quite flat, and aand to one side a piece of weathered grey wood- a chunk from a large branch, barkless with lots of linear texture including a deep groove with slight bark remnants and a bit of debris in it. Stones and leaves are shiny wet, and the wood bench surface has a a thin layer of water reflecting bright highlights from the grey sky.

Super cute canid alert! I was out for a #SlowWalk for Mara's Day in August, had to detour due to lots of cows (+a bull somewhere!) In exchange I got to see the cute calves I showed before +a group of young #Coyotes ! They were just where cows had passed- presumably hunting at the edge of the wetland. I only got 3 shots in 3 seconds, then they were gone! Video shows the location + still photos

young coyote, very gracile with mostly light coloured fur. It is in an area with tall grass etc, which is partly trampled and fallen, in dry faded gold autumn colour, in front of low willows, some thistles etc, darker trees just visible behind. The coyote is crouched down, with its forelegs extended in the grass, was possibly making a grab for some small critter.
Same coyote as first view, but its head is hidden by grass except for ears sticking up. Back end is raised, head down.
Same spot, the coyote is now standing up looking intently in front of it (we see it from the side and a bit to the front). Its neck is quite long, ears huge over a small pointy face. Its super cute!

I'm not usually home on Sundays at this time (work) so I'll take the opportunity to drop in to #WildflowerHour
Here are a couple of native Asters from a #SlowWalk on the #farm a few days ago (vid etc to come). Asters start mid-summer here, but some carry on well into #Autumn (just beginning here).
First is locally abundant Symphyotrichum ciliolatum which flowers from sun to shade. This one seems to have been grazed by cattle, so it's flowering at ground level!

A cluster of 4 smallish daisy-like flower heads (Asters named for their 'starry' appearance). They are a light lavender colour with centres from gold to wine, and held close to a low bunch of mid-green leaves just barely above the soil. Around are a few green and dry grass blades, twigs and some clover leaves.
