remember when I asked for a replacement for #disqus and then ranted about how none of the available solutions would also integrate with #mastodon?

Well shit. I did it again and scratched my own itch and barfed out another open source project.

Introducing: Meh..

* single install serves as many sites as you want
* can be used in static websites (it's lightweight web components in the frontend)
* imports Disqus
* fetches Mastodon replies as comments
* supports different languages (so far en, fr, es, de)
* probably has bugs

Disqus Comments Not Loading? It’s Not Me Bro, It’s Firefox

Over the last 12 months I’ve received a trickle of messages from readers (through the tip form) asking why the Disqus comments section doesn’t load, or comes and goes. Comments are auto-enabled all articles I publish. And if comments are intentionally disabled for an article (which does happen, albeit rarely) you won’t see a comment count (functions as an anchor link to the comments section) in the ‘meta’ area beneath the headline on the article page. So what’s the cause of comments not loading? Mozilla Firefox with Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) mode set to ‘Strict’. The feature —I won’t be :sys_more_orange:

Dadas las características de #TiddlyWiki, me costó mucha investigación y mucho trabajo implementar un sistema de comentarios en mi #TiddlyBlog.

Ahora que estoy en una etapa "detox" de la mayoría de sitios y complementos que rastrean con malicia...

¿Quito #Disqus de mi #TiddlyBlog tiddlyblog.tiddlyhost.com ?

Today I noticed that #Disqus started serving ads on my website, because I use their free tier plan. The alternative being to pay $11 per month! 😮

So I removed Disqus altogether and, with it, the ability to post comments on my articles ; until I can set-up a proper alternative.

Good riddance! Disqus is full of trackers anyway and I should have trashed it a long time ago.

"Hi there,

You're currently on our free Disqus Basic plan, which is our ad-supported tier that comes with only the most rudimentary features.

Ads will begin appearing on your comment section shortly."

Am I glad that I migrated my blog from to self-hosted just this week! At the time it felt like way too much effort for a small thing, but now I'm glad I did it.

Disqus is informing me that they will soon start to serve #advertisement on my website unless I pay for the "ad free tier".

I know that they must earn something for their work. That's fair enough.

But without me: bye bye #Disqus 😃

It was a move that I was considering for some time, in order to get rid of the last trackers on my blog. Now is the time 🙂

I read that SPAM is very popular in Hawaii
"from SPAM® Fried Wontons to SPAM® Musubi, and SPAM® products became a fixture for breakfast, lunch and dinner."
But is #VEGAN #SPAM popular there too? I'm asking #Mastodon users in #Hawaii if they know.

(Context: #DISQUS (DISSUX) on the Eschaton blog kept labeling a post from my friend JeffCO as SPAM. He's vegan.)
[I used the Match #Font tool in #Photoshop under #Type on the word SPAM. It said Brussels. Pretty good match!]
