As the regime tears American apart it’s time for everyone to accept the dark but undeniable truth; Trump and the MAGA movement are modern day Nazis in America. Looking at two recent stories and how they demonstrate that there's nothing hyp;erbolic at all about comparing Trumpism to the 3rd Reich and Nazism as a whole.

Picture Show: A Modern Day Nazi Movement

"If kidnapping migrants and trafficking to them to a torture prison in El Salvador doesn’t represent a red line for the MAGA base, what makes you think anything, even mass killings, actually would? This is a Christian Nationalist movement, lead by a fascist President, and the people who still support all this monstrous shit are literally the modern American equivalent of pre-war German supporters of the Nazi Party under Hitler."

In #Michigan, first Tuesday in May is Stealth Election Day for those school districts that elect their school boards via stealth election. My district, Warren Consolidated, used to be such a district. Back in those days the school board elections always caught me off guard. Often I'd be driving down 12 Mile and see the "Vote Today" signs in front of Warren Mott High and realize, oh wow, it's first Tuesday in May again. It seems to be a strategy to make school board elections more of a local insider thing. Harper Valley PTA vibes. Not a good look. I'd like to see stealth elections phased out at the state level. #mipol #elections

Thanks for this longish piece and for the Whitmer / Slotkin coverage.

Elissa Slotkin: “ The level of uncertainty for our small business owners, for anyone who works in manufacturing and anyone who works [in] farming, it’s the same level of uncertainty we had in COVID—except this time, it’s completely manufactured.”

Millions of People Depend on the Great Lakes’ Water Supply. Trump Decimated the Lab Protecting It.

The Trump administration’s slashing of budgets and staff have Great Lakes scientists concerned that they have lost the ability to protect the public from toxic algal blooms, which can kill animals and sicken people.

Trump and DOGE have gutted the agency charged with protecting the Great Lakes, including protecting the lakes from dangerous algal blooms, according to ProPublica:

Especially if we have elections in 2026, I hope the voters around the Great Lakes see this story.

"In response to the news, the TAHRIR Coalition, made up of dozens of pro-Palestinian student groups at the University of Michigan, said on social media that the decision “is what happens when we resist and refuse to cower.”

After lots of push back, charges in #Michigan dropped following FBI raids.

"State prosecutors dropped felony charges Monday against seven people accused of trespassing and resisting police a year ago during the break-up of a pro-Palestinian camp at the University of Michigan.

Attorney General Dana Nessel...suggested her office was worn down by criticism and other factors...[and] added that “distractions and ongoing delays have created a circus-like atmosphere.”

Common Dreams · Michigan AG Drops Charges Against Pro-Palestinian Campus Protesters | Common DreamsThe Michigan AG dropped charges against protesters at the University of Michigan who spoke out against the U.S.-backed Israeli assault of the Gaza Strip.

"“This was a case of selective prosecution and rooted in bias, not in public safety issues,” Makled added. “We’re hoping this sends a message to other institutions locally and nationally that protest is not a crime, and dissent is not disorder.”

Many Western nation would like to make protest a crime, while the same time telling us they're all about Freedom and Democracy. And they wonder why nobody votes anymore...

The Guardian · Michigan AG drops all charges against seven pro-Palestinian protestersBy Tom Perkins

Paddled from the Portage Lake DNR launch up the Portage River, aka Portage Creek aka Hell Creek, in a totally inappropriate sea kayak. Had to portage a beaver dam but turned back at a property-owner's bridge upstream from Toma Rd rather than trespass on his yard. Highlights included skunk cabbage, dogwood and a water snake. This was the route from Lake Erie's Huron River watershed across #Michigan to Lake Michigan's Grand River watershed.
