Aseprite Image Support

Tiled now supports loading Aseprite images directly. Aseprite is a popular editor for pixel art. This means you can now use .ase / .aseprite files in your tilesets, without needing to export them to PNG or other common formats first.

New rule: Any time I find myself aimlessly clicking around between websites I don't care about, I have to open #Tiled and work on this map for my #GBStudio game.

Spent a few afternoons and evenings here, looking closely at the details, and admiring sunsets from the steps out front.

#webdev #gamedev news: I have a success! That silly little Etrian Map Maker now exports those floor layouts into #Tiled #TMX format so it can be polished with real tiles for later.

Next week I think I'll look at how to polish the web UI for the generator so it isn't so... vertical.

#webdev #gamedev news! I am almost over the first hurdle for making the TMX export for Etrian Map Maker! I just need to make sure that the XML I'm generating matches the format #Tiled map editor is expecting.

As a result, I downloaded Tiled onto my #MSYS2 install so it's portable.

Random #webdev #gamedev thoughts for today: I started coding up a #Tiled TMX exporter for the map Etrian Map Maker makes. Turns out I also need to generate a dummy tilemap so the export file is at least self-contained.

Now that I think about this, why *didn't* I write this project as as a Tiled plugin back then? Oh well. At least I get to learn more about TMX and TSX files by writing the generator.

Oops, I accidentally didn't do any gamedev for, uh, a few months. Anyway, I'm back to it. Inspired by me getting back into Quake mapping I decided to add some dynamic elements with triggers to my levels, starting with buttons and toggleable blocks.
